Turkey Tetrazzini Recipe
Easy and Yummy Halloween treats you Can Make in Minutes
A Personal Note
It has been a LONG week. Last Thursday (I think it was…) my
computer totally crashed. We had a Sony PC that seemed to like eating hard
drives. I was in the middle of working and all of the sudden it says Windows has
encountered a fatal error – shutting down now to prevent further damage. Note
further… not to prevent damage, but to prevent FURTHER damage. I knew I was in
trouble then and of course it wouldn’t start back up. We just went through this
6 months ago, and I wasn’t doing it again. So off we went to find something new.
I ended up with a Toshiba Laptop. I LOVE having a laptop with the freedom to
work from anywhere. It is soooo nice to not be stuck in my office anymore.
However, as anyone who has ever gotten a new computer knows, it is a total pain
to get everything organized on the new machine. So after days of installing
software, recovering files (not done with that yet) and trying to figure out
Windows Vista, I am kinda sorta back in service. I am absolutely not technical
at all, but thankfully my husband is. However, I find it very stressful to learn
all this new stuff as well as hoping and praying we can find important files.
I’m sure in a few weeks it will be like nothing happened, but in the meantime
it’s a little stressful around here.
I will be changing my free e-mail list over to a new server probably this week,
so please watch for a note from me about that. It will allow better
deliverability among many other things. We’ll be changing the format up a bit
too. Should be fun. I probably will need to have you re-opt in, so be watching
for that so you don’t miss out! I will have some fun goodies for you as well as
a thank you for changing over.
Of course this computer crashed right in the middle of our big My
Menu Maker launch over at Menu Planning Central. You should have gotten an
e-mail this morning about that exciting news. That program is sooo cool! If you
missed it, you can find out more at

Easy and Yummy Halloween treats you Can Make in Minutes
Halloween is all about the treats. So, how can you make some fun treats at home
that your little ones will love and that aren't loaded with sugar? It’s actually
easier than you might think.
Do you have some Halloween Cookie Cutters? That’s all you’ll need to make these
first three fun and memorable Halloween treats. And if you don't, consider
tracing shapes on wax paper then using a pairing knife instead of a cookie
cutter.
Terrifying Tortilla Chips: Lightly spray flour tortillas with canola oil. Then
sprinkle them with your choice of parmesan cheese or cinnamon and sugar. Next
cut fun Halloween shapes out of the tortillas such as bats, ghosts, or pumpkins.
Lastly, place the treats in an oven and bake until lightly crispy. These make
great after school snacks and are also a fun options to place in your child's
lunch box.
Spooky sandwiches: Make your favorite sandwich. Peanut butter and jelly works
fine, but you can also use meat and cheese sandwiches. Then, using a cookie
cutter, press hard into the sandwich and you’ll get a spooky treat. If you use a
pumpkin shape cookie cutter, add licorice or candy corn to make eyes and a nose
on a jack-o-lantern face. Let your kids help by decorating their own sandwiches.
These are also a great lunch box options that will leave your kids and their
lunch the talk of the lunch table.
Creepy Cheese and Cold Cuts: Buy packaged, individually wrapped cheese slices.
Also, purchase your family's favorite cold-cuts. Using a cookie cutter, make
spooky shapes. Present the cheese and cold cuts on a platter as an appetizer –
or have a make-your-own-sandwich bar and allow your guests to use the creepy
cheese to create their own sandwich masterpieces.
Here are a few additional creative last-minute suggestions for adding fun to
your Halloween.
Wicked Witch Fingers: Do you have some dough and almonds? Believe it or not, you
can make witch fingers. Sugar cookie dough works best. Just stretch out the
dough into a “finger-shape” including a knuckle. Then, take the almond and press
it into one end of the finger to make the fingernail. By adding a few drops of
food coloring you can experiment with different colors to make witch fingers
creepier. You can also “paint” the fingernail with food coloring (grey or black
is perfect), or make the dough a creepy green color. Oooh… spooky!
Anything Green: Green is traditionally considered a creepy, spooky color at
Halloween time. Take your favorite foods and add a drop of green food coloring
to them. Are you in the mood for French toast? Make it green. How about pudding?
What about green apple sauce? You can even serve green milk with your cookies.
You’ll be the coolest mom on the block.
