A Personal Note
Hi there! My husband has returned home and we are one big happy
family again. I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. We had a nice day. On Friday
we went and saw Ratitouille, the new kids Pixar kids movie. It is all about a
rat who wants to be a professional chef. It was pretty cute – I’m not going to
say the very best kids movie ever.. but the kids enjoyed it. We only make it to
the theatre like once a year… I think the last thing we saw in the theatre was
Cars. LOL Saturday we went to our first auction. A member from our
congregation’s husband passed away and they owned a little country shop with
tractor parts etc. It was a HUGE auction and from what I could tell a big
success. It was kinda fun – although would have been more fun if there was some
girly stuff. It was plenty hot out there.
Sunday Matt’s parents arrived for a visit. We’re all happy to see them. Should
be a fun week. The boys start swim lessons this week and I think we are going to
venture out and go to a local Children’s Theatre play. Other than that, we don’t
have too many plans I don’t think.
Well, we’re off to enjoy the evening (it is finally cool enough
to venture outside) and enjoy our company.
Have a great week!
Christine

Healthful Benefits of Blueberries
The old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” may very
well be true, but recent studies now confirm that blueberries have far more
beneficial properties than apples. What are the health benefits of blueberries?
Let’s take a look.
Do you feel like you're getting more forgetful? You know the feeling - misplaced
the car keys, aren't sure if you turned off the stove before you left, or can’t
remember someone’s name. Well the good news is that blueberries, consumed on a
daily basis can improve memory. So toss a handful of blueberries in your morning
cereal to help improve memory function.
Blueberries ranked the highest in antioxidant properties, and have been proven
to help in the anti-aging process. In addition, blueberries are known to
restrict the harmful effects that free radicals can cause. Not all free radicals
are considered harmful. But some can cause damage to our cells, as well as cause
various types of cancer. The older we become, the more difficult it is to
safeguard against these free radicals. By consuming blueberries, we have a
better chance of minimizing the damaging effects. So look for ways to add them
to your diet on a regular basis.
Blueberries have been known to lower cholesterol, which is a major and
ever-growing problem among many people today. Research has proven that a
specific component in blueberries reduces the chances of urinary tract
infections by preventing bacteria from lining the walls of the urinary tract.
This is great news for those who suffer from reoccurring UTIs.
Blueberries have phenomenal properties. In fact they have been proven effective
anti-inflammatory, anti-blood clotting, and antibacterial effects. They have
even been used in cases of diarrhea and food poisoning.
If you thought carrots would good for the eyes, wait until you hear what
blueberries can do. Studies have also shown that blueberries can improve
eyesight, and are thought to help in reducing eye fatigue.
Researchers feel confident that there is a great chance that blueberries can
greatly assist in the fight against obesity and heart disease. And more
importantly, they may be linked in the fight against cancer, one of our
countries deadly diseases.
A half cup of blueberries a day can make a huge difference in staving off
potential health problems. On your next trip to the grocery store, make sure you
grab a pound of fresh blueberries or a bag frozen blueberries. You will begin to
see remarkable results after only a few weeks of incorporating them into you
diet.
