This story hit home with me in a major way!! My daughter (who is now 12) did this same thing when she was between the ages of 1 & 2. She would get hurt or get mad, start crying & go into seizure like symptoms. It panicked me everytime she did it. The Dr's did EKG's and all kinds of other tests to find out what was going on. Everything came back normal and the Dr. finally talked to me about just having a stubborn child that holds her breath when she's upset and it forces her to go into these convulsions. SCARY!!! Absolutely!!!! Not a fun time but definitely something she will grow out of. Just know you're not alone in this! God bless!!

Wowsers! When I posted my comment in another post about the Wiki thing you found I said my friend's son does the same thing but usually when he passes out from crying it's only for a very brief amount of time and once he comes to he's fine. In this case (with her falling) I would have been freaking out and calling 911 too. Thankfully it wasn't a head injury!

I used to babysit a family in ML where one day I showed up to BBS, and their mother casually said, "oh yeah, and if Grace passes out, just put her in her bed and leave her until she wakes up." !! What?
Anyway, turns out, that is just what she needed. I think in all the times I watched her, she passed out twice (not for long, always after some "injury"--maybe as benign has being removed from her tricycle by one of her brothers (ie, toddler not getting what she wanted)... She'd cry hard, and pass out. The doctors told her parents that it was genetic, and probably one of them did it as a kid. Turns out, it was her mother.
So, there you go! Very weird for a babysitter though.
Hope you have no more scary experiences with Annika--and sounds like you have great volunteers!

C. I had just sat down in my easy chair, usually pull the drapes, didn't. I seen flashing lights, seen it turn E. thought Aunt Hilda or Margaret. No, seen it in your drive. I panicked, thought of Dave. Then started praying, it soon left. I called Doug, I wanted to come over, thought of kids, then I knew their was Behold practice, you would have help, I just prayed. Later I called Pam,Yes she said Todd had been there. She can't say anything, Hippo law. Todd said all is o.k.I asked about prayer-chain,thought better not as I didn't know who or what. I continued praying. Later Sandy called said Ken had stopped at hospital, all is o.k. I finally felt better. I'm thankful wasn't worse, pray doesn't happen again.Blessings, Shirley
