The Christmas Tree is Up

How are you?  How are your Christmas preparations coming along?  I had been putting off putting up the Christmas Tree because little Annika is VERY active and I just don’t want to sit around all day telling her “no, no-no, no touch, pretty – look with your eyes, no-no-no…”  However, the boys were whining that EVERY kid in their class has their tree up except us.  So, tonight we finally gave in.  I should post a picture, but I’m tucked in bed with a cold & fever – watching TV (World’s Strictest Parents – have you ever watched that?  It is my first time) and getting some work done – so I’m not going to run and get the camera right this second.  The gist of it is – the top is decorated – the bottom – not so much.  A compromise.  I’m also not putting gifts under the tree for a bit because I can only imagine how that is going to end.  Annika won’t open a present when we give her one, but I’m guessing if they are under the tree they would end up opened.

Christian wanted to make cookies for Santa tonight as well, but I told him it is a little early to do that.  Of course I could freeze them, but I just wasn’t in the mood with my cold.  So we cuddled in bed – all 4 kids and me and watched the Charlie Brown Christmas special – creating wonderful childhood memories – I love that!

So, I think I am pretty much done shopping, but I need to get a bunch of stuff shipped – I never look forward to that, but I better get on it!  The other downfall was that I always send the kids pictures at Christmas, but since Christian isn’t in school this year – we don’t have pictures of him.  Matt insisted that he would take pictures and that I shouldn’t take him to a studio.  Well…  you can guess how many pictures I have in my hand now… So I guess we’ll have to take care of that after Christmas.

Do you have snow yet? (if you get snow)  We had a couple light dustings the last couple nights.  Today we had lots of sleet.  I’m curious in the morning if it will be icy – there is certainly a lot of water on the road right now.  Then by tomorrow evening we’re looking at winds with gusts up to 50 mph and a wind chill bell below zero.  I guess winter is officially here – I’m already looking forward to April!  It seems each year as I get older, the more I really don’t like the cold.

Did you get a chance to pick up your copy of the ABC’s of Christmas?  Even if you are done shopping, it is a fun read.  (See previous post for all the details.)

Alright, I’m off to get some sleep.
