Road Trip – Day 5

Got up at 7:00 a.m. – After 11 hours or sleep! Wow!

Breakfast again at the hotel – thankfully it wasn’t as crowded this morning.

Dropped the kids off. Annika did get her bottle today.

Went to the conference for 2 hours – listened to hot debates on budget & homosexuality issues.

Picked the kids up.

Had our $50 for the family lunch – sandwiches & chips. One more to go tomorrow! Wonder what it will be! Someone remind me next year to plan to eat off-site!

Dropped the boys off.

Annika fell asleep in the car so we rolled down the windows and I stayed with her out there for about an hour while she napped. I think I might have slept about 10 minutes too.

When she woke up we headed to Target to get that formula I tried to buy yesterday. They only had boyish strollers, so we skipped that.

When we got back we headed to the hotel room for a bottle and play.

4:30 p.m. Picked the boys up again and headed to Taco John’s to feed them dinner.

5:15 p.m. Dropped all kids off at the same place this time!

5:30 p.m. Pastor’s & Wives Banquet. We settled in, had most of our meal (except dessert) – which was nice… we were getting ready to enjoy the program when they announced that we needed to pick up our kids immediately as there was a storm with baseball sized hail, and possible tornado’s on the way. So we scarfed two bites of dessert and got to the church for our kids. I must say this time the storm did look like it had good potential for a tornado. (Unlike yesterday when the sirens went off) Yes, the sirens were going off again – just our luck – two days in a row! We got back to the hotel, ran in, and about 2 minutes later it started pouring. It got so dark the street lights came on, and there was some wind, but thankfully no hail or tornado. So that was a bit exciting! The kids actually were really good. Sometimes they get freaked out with storms, and this was a good one, but they did good. So much for an enjoyable evening out.. but that’s how it goes!

We then watched TV and got the kids into bed around 8:00 p.m.

It felt like true MN weather today! We finally weren’t freezing! Low 80’s humid and then the big storm. Tomorrow afternoon we are on the road again! (and we switch to mountain time!)
