Road Trip – Day 3

Hey there!

Today was part driving, part play.

The kids all slept until 8:30 a.m. – That was nice!

Forfeiting the expensive cereal for breakfast today… I fed the kids some oatmeal cream cookies I had in the car…. Oatmeal – healthy right? LOL

We packed up and exited the hotel around 10:30 a.m.

First stop – Mall of America, AGAIN.

Today we hit Cinnabon first – for a mid-morning snack (yeah, I know… another nutritious meal) It’s Matt’s favorite. Matt was pretty impressed that I could tell him exactly where it was in the giant mall after not being there for 6 years. Then we were off to the Nickolodeon store (Dane wanted a yellow spongebob hat he saw the day before). Then to Legoland – I got the cutest Lego Man Popsicle molds! Ryan got a Lego Watch. Then to another toy type store – Christian got a Star Wars guy. Then to Air Traffic – Matt got a couple toys and Annika almost jumped out of the sling reaching for this open circle ball with rattles – so she got that. Leaving there I accidentally stepped on Dane’s toe and made it bleed – poor little guy! Then a bathroom break and to the car. I survived the Mall of America without a stroller! I actually think it might have been easier just having Annika in the carriers. (I have two and have been switching on and off between the two).

We left the mall around 1:00 p.m. and drove to Hutchinson, MN (about an hour drive) to see our good college friends. We hadn’t seen them for 3 years – it was so fun to see them and their 4 kids (who are getting so big!) We actually hadn’t met their youngest, and they hadn’t met Annika yet. The kids all played really nicely together – except for Annika who constantly went after poor Lydia’s hair! She has a thing with pulling other babies hair! I wish she wouldn’t do that – anytime she has a chance to play with other babies she always ends up making them cry! We enjoyed a nice homemade meal with them and then headed out on the road again around 7:15 p.m.

We then drove 2 1/2 hours to Fergus Falls Minnesota. This ride seemed to go by really fast, but I was on the phone for about an hour of it. (Thanks Holly for the chat!) We are here to attend the AFLC Annual Pastor’s Conference. We got to the room about 10:00 p.m. and the kids settled in about 10:30 p.m. Annika did much better at going to sleep tonight and was asleep by 11:00. When I registered for our room they said we would have a half wall separating the kids bed and our bed, but we ended up with a separate room for us – which is what we prefer. So that was a nice surprise – especially considering we will be here for 3 nights.

So all in all a good day – 3 1/2 hours on the road, and lots of fun inbetween. I hope you are all well!

Interesting. I had come across your site a while back. Then yesterday I got an email from my Google Alerts mentioning “hutchinson, MN” and again got your Day 3 blog post. Welcome to Hutchinson. Glad you had a good day here. Ive been here for 15 years! I probably know your college friends…Also, had talked to another mom a couple days ago on Twitter who was headed this way from California to visit family in MN and had a college roommate in Hutchinson. I had to go back and make sure you were two different people. Odd…in one week. Such a small world. Anyway, I’m rambling. Safe travels.

That is a small world! Our friends are the Wollans. Know them? I got a book from PaperBackSwap the other day from Hutchinson, MN and I had to ask my friend if she knew who sent it, and low and behold it was one of her good friends!
