Friendship

I hope you had a great Halloween!  We had a good day.  The kids went Trick O’ Treating with some friends this evening (it was cold!) and then we came home and cuddled up in our warm jammies.  The only bummer of it all is that I am trying to not eat sugar, so I didn’t get to indulge in any treats!

Tonight I have been baking away for our school bake sale that is tomorrow.  I’m making Lemon Bars (done) and Samoa’s (half-way done) for sure.  We’ll see if I get to anything else before 3 p.m. tomorrow when the goodies have to be delivered.

Friday the kids didn’t have school for parent/teacher conferences.  My friend Holly offered to keep my kids (All FOUR of them!) from Thursday night – Saturday morning.  So Matt & I had a nice break! It was hard to leave Annika – I had only ever left her for a couple hours before; but Holly is her godmother, and I can’t think of anyone I would rather leave her with.  They did great and it was good for Matt & I to spend some alone time together.  We hadn’t gone on an alone date since Matt’s mom was visiting last December.   Our relatives all live thousands of miles away, so we feel very blessed to have such great close friends.

I have learned so much about how to be a good friend through the friendships we have made here in IL.  I do encourage you – if you have a friend who does not have family close… consider offering to watch their kids periodically so they can get out.  It really is one of the nicest gifts you can give them.

At any rate, I encourage you to invest in a friendship this week.  Send a card, give a long lost friend a call, invite a friend over for tea & cookies, take a friend out for a girl’s shopping day, or offer to watch her kids for a few hours.  Let me know what you do!

That was a really nice message and you made me cry! You are a great friend and I am lucky to have you!

Very good advice Christine, also, if someone knows of friends that have their elderly parent or parents who live with them, they would enjoy an event out by themselves also, so offer to “vist” with their parent for an evening. I’m sure they will take you up on it! You all take care now.
