Hi Christine,
I don't normally leave comments on blogs or websites but felt compelled to tell you that it was great to hear honesty from another Mom. I am still in the workplace (my children came along when i was 38 & 42!) and find that my colleagues and office mates who are childless cannot relate to my struggles as a mother at all. Most of my friends who are my age have kids that are grown and grandkids too, so it is nice for me to hear accounts of others who are in roughly the same place I am. My son is 6 and just finishing kindergarten and my daughter will turn 2 next month. Although I have never dealt with dyslexia personally, I have a cousin who did and I know how challenged he felt. There is good help out there, it just doesn't usually come from the conventional school system. Our teachers, God Bless them, are under so much pressure to teach to the "masses" that it just is not feasible to spend much extra time with children who do not learn in conventional ways.
Anyway, best of luck and thanks for sharing honestly.
