Do You Have Any Lingering Cob Webs?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Has spring arrived at your house yet? The weather has been such a tease here! One day we had 80 degrees, and now a couple days later it is freezing with a bit or snow. My poor plants in the garden aren’t going to know what to think! Opposed to planting the rest of my garden just yet.. I have decided to stay inside for a bit and get some spring cleaning done! Yuck, I know not the most enjoyable task. However, my friend Susanne, the Hillbilly Housewife, has put together a guide to make your spring cleaning quick, easy and maybe even enjoyable! At least if you’re like me, you’ll enjoy the end results at least. Head on over and check it out:

She walks you through cleaning your home room by room and she’s even included some great checklists to help you stay organized and on track. Go take a peek and you’ll be done with your cleaning before you even know it!

What’s up With Ice Cream Tub Sizes?

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

I know we have all noticed that grocery prices are going up… Well, have you also noticed that package sizes are getting smaller? The other day I sent my hubby to the store to pick up a few things. Breyers ice-cream was on sale (which is our preferred brand) so I asked him to pick up a couple tubs. Well, when he go home I discovered they are now 1 1/2 quarts instead of 2 quarts! (so the sale was the normal 2 quart sale price, but we got less ice-cream) That drives me crazy! Anyone else notice package sizes changing on other products?

One Of Those Days

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Hello! How’s it going? I’m hoping this post works, as I’m having one of those days where everything I try to do on my computer either doesn’t work or takes twice as long as it is supposed to. So annoying! I should probably just step away from the thing and go do something else, but I wanted to get a post up for you before I do that.

Did any of you feel our IL earthquake last Friday? We had a 5.2 magnitude quake centered about 2 1/2 - 3 hours south of us. It was pretty exciting to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to feel your bed moving back and forth. Go figure we move from WA where earthquakes are periodically expected (and I never felt one) to IL where they are almost non-existent (they say to expect one this size once every 10-15 years) and we just happen to experience a pretty good one. I can say been there, done that, now and I don’t really have any desire to experience it again.

I am still nauseous periodically, but it continues to get slightly better I think. We are 15 weeks pregnant now, so hopefully any day now that nausea will disappear… I don’t remember having it last quite this long with the other ones, but maybe I just blocked it out of my mind…

We are sneaking away for a few days later this week. We are going to an indoor waterpark resort. The boys are totally ecstatic. Hopefully it will be lots of fun! I am sure it will be.

Well, I think I will go do some dishes, laundry, and maybe even some gardening… (If I can get motivated enough…) Have a great week!

Strawberries and Cream Dessert Squares - YUM!

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Strawberries are ALMOST in season! YUM! I managed to find some decent ones the other day at the store and I had been dying to try this recipe:

Straberries and Cream Dessert Squares

I made it for bible study and it was a big hit, so I thought I would share it with you as well. ENJOY! My husband claims it is his new favorite dessert.

I’m Almost Alive Again!

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Hi there! Well, I am now 13 1/2 weeks pregnant and this week I am almost able to function again. I am still really tired and need my afternoon nap, but at least during my waking hours I can periodically accomplish something these days. I am hoping in the next couple weeks that 2nd trimester burst of energy will somehow find me. I still get nauseous freqeuntly, but it is definitely getting better than it was.

So what has been going on around here? Let’s see… My husband had sinus surgery last Tuesday. He broke his nose when he was young and since then has gotten frequent sinus infections, so he finaly went in and got it all repaired. Tomorrow he goes in and gets some plastic piece and all the packing removed (ICK, sounds just awful to me) and then hopefully after that he will be a new man! (well, at least his nose will be new)

The older boys have been keeping busy with school. We didn’t sign-up for any sports this spring and I am really happy to have our Saturdays free from running here there and everywhere. Speaking of spring.. FINALLY we are seeing a bit of spring weather. I have been itching to get the boys’ spring clothes out, but haven’t gained the energy or motivation or something just yet… I think about it every day though LOL. At least they can finally play outside periodically between the spring showers/storms. Dane (our 3 year old) has a new fascination with monsters for some reason. Last night in the middle of the night he asked me if I had locked all the doors. I told him I did, and he said “good, that way the monsters stay out.” Then, this morning first thing he says - “the monster went back to his family.” PHEW! I’m glad to hear that! LOL Later Matt and I asked him all kinds of questions about the monster - was he friendly, what he looked like etc. Apparently he was black and not so friendly.. EEK! Hopefully he can quit having those crazy dreams and waking me up as I already wake up enough from my own crazy dreams and potty breaks and strange sounding breathing coming from my husband’s current nose and… No wonder I need a nap every day!

Well, I am becoming quite hungry (again) so I guess I better run and fill my tummy. Thanks for your patience during the last couple months and hopefully soon I’ll be a bit more on top of things. :)
